How to keep your jewelry shining
A few small habits keep every piece looking new for years.
Every day
- Put your jewelry on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray.
- Take it off before swimming, showering, the gym or cleaning.
- Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after you wear it.
Storing it
- Keep each piece in its pouch or in the Spotlight box so it doesn't scratch against other jewelry.
- Store it somewhere dry, away from direct sunlight.
Moissanite and sterling silver
Moissanite is very hard and keeps its sparkle. If it looks dull, soak it for a few minutes in warm water with a drop of mild soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse and dry. Sterling silver can darken over time: a polishing cloth brings the shine back.
Gold-plated pieces
Plating lasts longer when it stays dry. Avoid polishing cloths with chemicals and never use abrasive cleaners.
